short walk |
|
| This short walk provides a taste of the native bush at the North Egmont Visitor Centre. It can be walked as a loop, or you can return back the same way from the Translator Road. | |
Where is it?
Begin to the right of the toilet block in the car park below the Visitor Centre at North Egmont. This all weather evenly graded track rises to the Translator Road, over two bridges, and up a few steps. At the Translator Road turn right, cross the style by the gate to the Camp House, before returning down the road to the Visitor Centre. Features This is an interesting short walk with a variety of vegetation to look at. It certainly should be part of a school visit. Track Surface All weather Accessibility While the surface is good, the steps could be a problem, more likely the style at the gate before the Camp House will cause difficulty. |

Dangers Walking down the road will require care, stay on the right and you shouldn’t have to cross the road. Additional NotesThe Department of Conservation website has some information in an excellent PDF file called Egmont National Park. There are also pupil activities at the end of this, see below.
