short walk |
|
| This short loop walk provides a brief bush experience at the Mountain House on the Stratford access road. | |
Where is it?
As with the Curtis Falls track, it is not clear where to start this walk. From the parking area at the Mountain House you will see some very wide steps to the left of the road going up to the Plateau and ski field. These lead to a picnic area. At the top of this clearing on the left is a track heading into the bush. This is it! Cross the concrete path and continue. Or to walk the track in a clockwise direction, walk towards the Mountain House from the car park, then head left down the one way exit road, about 50m below the buildings the track enters the bush on the right. Once you are in the bush there are signs to follow. There are three bridges to cross, be careful to walk right to the end of them. My assistant cut the corner on one and got a nasty fright! There are some higher than usual steps to climb up going this way, so be prepared. |

Features There is a public shelter with toilets at the Mountain House. Inside is a fireplace and two big tables. A class could fit in here if the weather turned rough. The wide steps up to the picnic area would make an ideal place for a class photo. Track Surface firm Accessibility Once again the height of the steps could limit those who are less agile. |
