Connett Loop Walk
Fabulous flora on a misty day on the Connett Loop
DoC recommended times and track type:

30-40 minutes

short walk
This is a spectacular walk that begins and ends from the lower car park at the North Egmont Visitor Centre.  It is a lovely walk that shouldn’t be beyond the physical capabilities of too many.  While there are no views, the variety of the flora is impressive.
Where is it?

From the car park head down the Ngatoro Track past the turn off to Maketawa to the next sign, which points to the left.  Go left and around the loop.  The track does descend, but ascends more gently when going this way.

The loop brings you back onto the Ngatoro track where you turn right, and head back up to the car park.  Note the Mountain lookout side track, only 25 metres on the left shortly after passing the sign directing walkers around the top of the loop.

Features

You will see a pleasant variety of attractive native bush.  Some trees are named. Many noisy birds on the afternoon we walked it.

Track Surface

Well maintained, mostly gravel, a few steps, as close to an all weather track as you will get.

Accessibility

Children at all levels should be able to cope with this walk.

Dangers

There is no barrier at the end of the Mountain lookout.  The landscape does fall away sharply, but shouldn’t present problems.
